Diana Marsden B.A.

Trained at The Harris School of Art,Lancs (1959-63) and later gained a B.A. in Art History with The Open University in 2000.

In 1967 Diana moved to Aldeburgh,Suffolk and started painting the Suffolk landscape.

Many exhibitions followed in Suffolk from 1975 including, in Aldeburgh,The Strand Gallery, Thompson's Gallery, and Gallery 44. In 1994 The John Russell Gallery in Ipswich and in later years her own Studio.

Present work since 2008 has been done using only a painting knife and has become the preferred way of working.

Now living in Eastbridge, close to the Minsmere Bird Reserve, Diana still paints the local landscape and also still-life, in a more abstracted way.

Always engrossed in the searching for interesting flints and pebbles among the shingle of Suffolk beaches, the colours and patterns have now become a source of inspiration for recent paintings.

The abstract beach stone paintings have now developed into a more exploratory use of colour, both in it’s juxtapositioning and ability to convey mood.
