Studied at Lowestoft and Camberwell Schools of Art in the 1950’s.
Lecturer at the School of Art and Design at suffolk College 1971-1995.


Solo exhibitions at chappel Galleries, Essex in 1999 and 2007 and Room Upstairs, Christchurch Mansion, Ipswich in 2002. Has shown in London at the RA, NEAC, Discerning Eye and City Gallery.
Wrote The Walberswick Enigma and Artists at Walberswick 1880-2000 as well as several Chapters and articles about the magnetic pull of this Suffolk village on artists; acted as consultant for four exhibitions on this subject.

Richard Scott’s paintings explore the balance and intensity of colour and the importance of considered structure. He is a founder-member of the Suffolk group.
