Kate Reynolds

Iconic, simple, evocative, contemplative, noble, timeless, thoughtful, melancholic, beautiful, strange, graceful, elegant, dynamic, powerful, calm, joyous, humorous, balanced, essence, humanity. Words, to describe my various ceramics, and words or ideas, that are imbued in my ceramic pieces.

I cut out slabs of clay, incise and stretch, form and join, pour on, sponge or brush on glaze, then experiment with metal oxides to discover the pieces anew … awaiting in the kiln.

Kate studied at Ipswich Art School (1978-80), 3D design at Brighton Polytechnic (1980-83), ceramics at Cardiff institute (1983-84).

Taught ceramics, drawing and 3D, at Suffolk College from 1988 until 2011.
